Valentines Day Gift Ideas

Boxes of chocolate candy and bouquets of flowers are one of the first things that come to mind when you think about gifts for Valentine's Day. But they can cost too much money for some. Following are some low cost, thoughtful Valentines Day ideas gift that will make this Valentine's Day a day to remember.

There are several things you can do for your husband, the devoted dad. Find a great photo of him and the kids and put it in a nice picture frame for his desk at work. If he enjoys firing up the grill, consider a manly grilling apron. Plan a family day, complete with a backyard cookout if the weather permits, and a day of playing games.

Give mom some time alone by taking the kids with you for an evening out. Present her with some bubble bath soap, some scented candles and a book or magazine. Package it in a pretty basket then head out the door with the kids to give her some undisturbed time alone.

If your loved one is crazy about animals, think about offering to volunteer with them at the local animal shelter for a day. You can walk the dogs, groom the animals and give them such much needed socializing. The workers at the shelter will be grateful to you, too!

Dinner out at a restaurant can be expensive, so plan a nice evening at home. Cook their favorite meal, bake a cake for dessert and add I Love You for decoration. Turn out the lights, light some candles and put on a CD of love songs and you have a romantic evening. Later, you can cuddle in front of the television and watch a favorite romantic movie.

If you are wanting to give your elderly parents or a neighbor a Valentine's Day gift, consider making them personalized gift certificates. You might have coupons for a meal at your home, a coupon for mowing their yard or a day of errand running. For your spouse or significant other you might make the coupons a little more personal, such as certificates for hugs and kisses, a back rub, their favorite meal or dessert.

Spend the whole day together visiting low cost places such as museums or a library. If you like to shop, go to flea markets or antique shops or a mall. Keep in mind that the idea is to spend the day together, not to spend a lot of money, so take a lunch along and avoid buying things on impulse.

Go to a hobby store and get a piece of scrapbook paper decorated with hearts or flowers or use a pretty piece of stationery and write your significant other a letter. Tell them your favorite times you have spent together or what you remember about the first time you met. List all of the reasons you love them.

Take some time to think about your gift. You can come up with many affordable ideas to show your love. Gifts that come from your heart will have more significance to them than a good box of candy and pretty flowers.
